Sad. I've never seen him live but I was going to when he made his round to New Hampshire next month.

I saw him live twice. Enjoyed both shows a lot.
I just loved that blunt/biting sense of humor.

I can only express seven words of regret.
He proved that you could grow old and still be tres cool.

Very sad news. He didn't always strike that harmony with me but, as IJAG said, it's impossible not to appreciate his legacy and what he meant to comedy. RIP.

Just asking: Why is this story not yet appearing on most major news sites? The e story said he died around 6 pm pacific....seems like this should be front page news on the web, even for a Sunday night.

Saw him live 20 years ago, owned a couple of his albums.
    The guy was a legend.
    Damn!
    RIP George.

Interesting choice of song now that I'm reading this thread: "Edge of Seventeen" by Stevie Nicks with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Her song written in the throes of grief over John Lennon's death and the subsequent loss of her uncle seems a fitting soundtrack to reading a thread about this massive loss.

I'm off tonight, but just called my paper to tell them to get in on the Web, if not an optional replate for the city edition.
