If you've never heard "Taurus," go to youtube and listen. Classic ripoff. Led Zep and Spirit were touring together. Randy was working on it during rehearsals. Led Zep could have easily heard it. "Taurus" was published before "Stairway ..." Randy died while saving his son from drowning near their Kauai home.

If you were born between 1965 and 1970, and seriously attempted to play electric guitar between 1980 and 1990, you turned it up to 11 and tried (and likely mostly failed) to imitate an EVH tap solo.

RIP to another of the soundtrack of my misspent teenage years.

A giant loss. I was a fan, but not as big as my brother. RIP to a giant.

The first two Extreme albums owe everything to Van Halen, and Nuno is a god.

College friends remembered them as a garage band playing parties in Orange County in the late 70s. And that's all I got.

I was out on a bike ride when the news broke. I thought it was weird I heard two different cars playing old VH songs. I got home and realized why.

RIP to the guy who created a whole bunch of the soundtrack of my teens.

One of my first albums was Fair Warning, which I wore out the 8-track on. Thought it was great, but in hindsight was one of their weaker DLR albums.

Then Diver Down came out, which was absolute dreck.

They made themselves completely over with 1984.

I liked VH, but wasn’t a huge fan. RIP.
