I don't think Snider was underrated. He was an eight-time All-Star and one of the top players on one of the most well-known teams of all-time. But he wasn't anywhere close to the player Mays or Mantle was. You could argue that if Snider had played in Cleveland or Cincinnati rather than Brooklyn, he wouldn't have been nearly as famous.

I don't think there was much gap between Mays/Mantle and Snider in their prime. Yeah, Snider's peak didn't last nearly as long. I didn't mean he was necessarily underrated when he was playing, but I'm not sure most fans realize how good he was.

    Yeah, I agree with that.

    Yes there was.

    Snider's OPS+ peak: 165-171-169-155
    Mantle's: 180-210-221-188-151-164-206-196-195-178

    That's not the same stratosphere.

  6. RIP to the guy I named my dog after (he's Duke, not Snider)

Sandy Koufax is another 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers survivor -- he pitched in 12 games.

Maybe he's in heaven studying with spnited for the upcoming fantasy draft. :)

It actually makes me a little sad that I was able to post Snider and Mantle's OPS+ numbers without an immediate sharp rebuke.

I believe Duke was spnited's favorite player.
