    In the "He would have wanted it that way" file: Police had to use rubber bullets and tear gas to break up the riot that began when soccer fans in Buenos Aires learned the public viewing of Maradona's casket had ended with them outside. Some of them then tried to rush the cemetery where the private burial service was held.

    In all of the tributes, the thing which rings through is that he was always coddled because of his talent even when he was pre-teen. As a result, everything he ever did was forgiven, he never really developed a moral center and he was used by those around him to a ridiculous degree.

    Someone made the point that a Maradona in 2020 is an overmanaged recluse like Messi or Ronaldo. He’s in prefect shape and only gives quotes which are vetted by his team of advisors. The appeal of Maradona to many was not just the surreal talent but the bastard who got away with (almost) everything.
