Rhoden Wants to Even the Score

There are 89 players named in the Mitchell report. Are we going investigate all of them individually? Or just the rich ones? If you sat every one of those players in front of a congressional panel, under oath, would they all cop to using PEDs? If not, would you charge them all with perjury?

Bonds and Clemens, not the same. With Bonds you had BALCO, records, files. With Clemens, you have a self-confessed liar who has lied to the Feds on previous occasions.

If the Feds think they can make a case--based on evidence and not public opinion--they should bring it on it own merits. Not because they need to get a white guy to balance the scale.

Exactly - Rhoden is saying it needs to be done to balance the scale. If Clemens were black the column would not have been written in the same way.

Clemens was brought before Congress because he said the Mitchell report is inaccurate. Congress wanted to find out what parts of it were inaccurate. He should have either kept his mouth shut or admitted "trying out" steroids and HGH ala Pettitte.

That won't happen. Everyone has put down their torches and pitchforks because they're too fatigued and exhasted from carrying them during the Bonds witch hunt.

How was Bonds case a witch hunt? I would label the Duke lacross case a witch hunt but not the Bonds case.

Big Chee do you feel the score needs to be evened along racial lines?

    Ben,

I felt like the type of love Rhoden was talking about was discipline.

This is a great point. Congress and the feds have tried to back-door guilty verdicts by trying their cases in the court of public opinion. Ask yourself against how many of those 89 players did the Mitchell report really produce sufficient evidence to get an indictment?

Everything about this issue has been approached backwards. They use distributors to get at the users (celebrity athletes) instead of pressuring the users to go after the distributors. Then, when none of this produces a solid case, they set up perjury traps.

Bud Selig is an idiot for inviting this upon his product.

The money cut those guywires . . . the average schlub felt some tentative connection when a decent, veteran pitcher in the late '50s was taking down
    $16,5. Not anymore.

That's a lot loaded questions there.

The press were adamant about putting everything about Bonds out there to the point that the public and press in general have suffered through steroid news fatigue.

That's just human nature, so I think it's silly to think they'll be the same lust and zeal to push the Clemens story as it was for Bonds.

As far as the Duke boys, ask the exonerated Central Park rapists whether or not their parents had 60 Minutes sitdowns or up to the minute news reports of alleged contradictions by their arresting officers.

The Duke kids happened to be born into money to get their innocence heard. So it's not so much racial as it was class.

But what do I know. I'm just the angry negro pre-occupied by race and can't get ahead in life.

    :(

You're the one bringing up your posting history here, Big Chee. Boom just asked a few legitimate questions, the last of which you really didn't answer.

    Save us the victim act.
