Rhoden once again with one of his divisive columns. I just do not see this as a black / white issue.

    Understandable emotion.

    Off-the-wall reasoning, as per usual.

"Sport is that child we raised with money but not love, who we allowed to grow up amid privilege but no values except to win at all costs. The child has grown up, out of control, in a culture of cheating: of steroids and illegal taping, of embarrassing conduct off the field."

That's a pretty good paragraph right there.

Oh, there's plenty of love . . . the love keeps it alive, with the attention derived.

But like so many fascinating things, sports does NOT love you back.

Loopy wrote essentially the same thing -- that the feds MUST go after Clemens the way they've gone after Bonds. This turned into a racial issue the moment the ill-advised report was released and Clemens' name jumped off the page. Now, it's almost impossible to restore any sense of perspective, not because anyone is taking it too easy on Clemens but because the zealots went so far over the top in their efforts to make Bonds a PED poster boy. Treating them equally now means going way over the top in pursuit of both of them. And it's a little too late now for Waxman to regret his role as Judge Judy.

When does Bonds testify before a House or Senate Committee? When does Bonds hold press conferences about allegations of HGH and steroid useage? When do Clemens supporters play the race card? When does Rhoden stop being intellectually immature?

Going after Clemens with the same fervor as has been used in going after Bonds will show that it isn't a black/white issue.

So where does it stop? Why just white and black? Where is the balance . What at a japanese player ? A Latin player?

Its ironic that Rhoden is talking about what kids are taught when making this a racial issue might be a worse lesson.

    Uh, Miguel Tejada?

Seems pretty simple -- the ones that lied under oath will be prosecuted.

Thats true but that is not what Rhoden is saying. He is saying that the score needs to be evened along racial lines.

    Where does it say that?

Looks like he writes that prosecuting Clemens will show it's not a black/white issue.

The whole premise of his column is that it is a black white issue.
