How many lessons did you get in school about ANY baseball player? Because I frankly can't remember any athlete ever being the subject matter of any specific "lesson" in my public school upbringing either. As I understand, public schools are required to follow a pretty rigid curriculum that doesn't leave much room for lessons on sports figures. The only class where a lesson of that nature might've even concievably come up would've been history class, but I don't recall that ever happening. So I guess I'm saying that, although I agree it should've been discussed (especially at a school named after the guy), I'm not really shocked that it wasn't.

But you do indeed like to play the blame game, Chee, it seems to be the central theme of nearly all your posts. I see you're now throwing blame at the "Cosby Generation of African Americans" as the ones at fault for somehow messing up your generation. You otherwise seem like a pretty bright guy, Chee, perhaps its time to move past that constant scapegoating mentality.

I can honestly care less if the "blame game" label is going to be my SportsJournalists.com classification.

But if you can't respect my view of the generational chasm I see in my experience of being the first generation of kids raised in the post civil rights movement and the lack of guidance by its elders I'd advice you to do it in silence.

I have a problem with attending a school that stands on the hallowed grounds of one of the most significant events for African Americans in the 20th century and Jackie not getting his proper recognition by that community which benefitted from his sacrifice. That wasn't my job as an 11 year old. That was the responsibility of those before me.

And yes, I do put the onus on Cosby's generation for that and many other issues this generation lives with. I'm not one of those people who as a parent take credit for my kids success but absolve my self of blame when they fail. But that seems to be the American way.

With your mentality, you'd be the type who would blame our future generation of kids for the mess we're going to hand down to them in Iraq.

I don't get it big chee-- a few posts back you were saying that MLB should stop honoring Jackie Robinson and now you are complaining that as an 11 year old your school did not do enough to teach you about his legacy.

I think MLB does nothing to promote the game in the African American community while patting themselves on the back on Jackie.

I think my community and its eldeers also did a poor job of handing down my generation about the lessons we could learn from Jackie.

Why is it now important to you to hear my thoughts regarding matters in a community you have no caring for or interest in other than typecasting it with your nonsensical stereotyping in order to satisfy your low self esteem?

Catch Phrase: "Why Baseball"?

Central message: Focus on black stars of today instead of wheeling out Buck O'Neil ( assume you meant this figurtively since he has sadly passed away) and stop honoring the legacy of Jackie Robinson.

You should send your ideas over to Bud. I think you have a winning plan.
