In another thread last week I wrote a phrase along the lines of "of all the stupid things the NFL does," and that applies here, too.

Let's just forget about this game. That'll solve the question of where and when to play it.

Except this appetizer is dog shit on a plate, while the main course is filet mignon. In which case no one wants to even think about the appetizer.

The NFL has to be making some money on this game to keep trying to make it work, huh? God knows there's not an ounce of tradition in it. And by the time the best players all drop out, half the freakin' league claims they are Pro Bowlers when it's all done.

I'd still watch that over the Pro Bowl.

Take the Lions (please!), have them play with CFL rules. Then, well, the Lions might only lose by a rouge. ;)

  9. In truth, that's what made the Pro Bowl an incentive ... free week in Hawaii, plus it's good for NFL executives -- a good site for the equivalent of "baseball winter meetings."

Now, the whole schedule is compacted, and any Super Bowl site that just happens to be the site of an NFC or AFC championship game** would have to get their facility for three massive events in three weeks, plus the NFL Experience, the couvoisier parties, etc. etc.
