Rent a car from National? Not me

Before your next trip, check with your insurance agent. Your personal policy may cover the insurance for the rental car, too. I had to rent cars twice this summer -- first time I had ever rented a car -- and asked my agent about it well after the fact. She said my policy covered it, and even offered to reimburse me. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the receipts :(

It was a Ford Focus ... I don't need the Canyonero, or this monster.

I almost always rent from National. Like the Emerald Aisle. And two of the past three times I've been there, I've ended up with a Volvo.

That beats the hell out of getting a Chevy Cobalt.

If you check with the rental company, they might be able to send you copies.

I figured it was a Ford, but was thinking more along these lines:

So your insurance agent was offering to reimburse what you paid out of pocket on insurance for rental cars? That's pretty nice of them.

FYI, the rental car agents get bonuses on the insurance they sell, so they sure as heck ain't gonna point out that your personal policy or workplace may cover it. In fact, they are likely to give you the impression that one fender bender could bankrupt you forever.

Mastercards and Visas also have some rental car insurance provisions.

    So does Diners.

Funny, Discover didn't have this as of a few years ago. It's why I always charge my rentals to my MC.

And does anyone still use Diners' Club? Seriously?

    For this very reason.
