Radio/TV layoffs

I know there was a thread here a while back about the mass Clear Channel cuts, but the radio and TV outlets in our town have shed people the last week or two -- and none of them will talk to the paper about it.

(And to answer the question -- yes, the paper I work for wrote about our staff cuts a few months ago, and our pay cuts and benefit reductions not long ago.)

It bothers me a little that places with access to the airwaves won't be up front about their cutbacks.

Does this happen in other markets, too?

I know of at least one TV station that made some of their people who were bought out sign confidentiality agreements.

Write what the hell you want. Write an opinion piece about how said TV face is suddenly no longer on the air and ask why. Throw it into the court of public opinion.

(With that said, I ordinarily wouldn't give a TV puke the time of day.

    Sorry, TV pukes.)
