Canadians are in shock at the cost of the medical.

Sarah was just a big ray of sunshine. Always positive, thanking people who helped with shoots or put on comps, and just an overall good person. As big of a star as she was in freeskiing, I never felt intimidated to approach her.

The insurance thing is a giant mess.

Saw a headline today that in one day they had collected enough donations to cover the hospital bill.

The fact Monster is not stepping up for eveything is sickening. The $200,000 bill is ridiculous as well. Does it really cost hat much to provide care? Enough of the rant on medical costs.

People would be amazed at the community the ski/snowboard industry has become.

How would you go into an event like that without an iron clad contract from sponsor to cover such
    contingencies ?

I read about this last nite and this sort of taken-too-soon tragedy happens everyday, but it hits home when we see a public figure involved.
Condolences to family and friends of Sarah Burke.

Maybe she did go into the event fully covered. It hasn't been made clear whether she did or didn't.

Did anyone see the Microsoft/Bing ad that just aired during the NFC Championship game just now?

It was a commercial about Kevin Pearce and his comeback, including a line about "there is a light at the end of the tunnel" and talking about how great it is to snowboard again.

No doubt the commercial was shot and made before Burke's death, but to air it in light of events is just completely tone-deaf on Microsoft's part. They should have immediately spiked that commercial.

Sarah Burke's death doesn't make Kevin Pearce's story any less inspiring.
