    Compared to Looney Tunes the Hanna-Barbera stuff was fast food but then along came Speed Racer ....

    If you watched the Good Morning America crawl, you could have learned that Joseph Barbero of Hanna-Barbero fame had died. Apparently ABC thinks he broke his leg at Pimlico.

    Speed Racer was so bad it was awesome.

    True. Maybe one of the earlier examples of an industry beginning to be off-shored, too. Might be fun to run a silent loop of Speed Racer cartoons during my holiday party.

    His recent appearance in the car insurance commercial was greatly welcomed.

    He also gets a nice tribute when the Hanson Brothers first arrive in Charlestown -- "think they show Speed Racer here?"

    On the other hand, he may also be solely responsible for every puke-worthy piece of anime dumped on North American audiences in the last 30 years.

    Speed Racer was Tran-Lux not Hanna-Barbera
