Just received a note from a pal in local media saying that Twins owner Carl Polhad died this afternoon. I don't access to a link since I'm on blackberry, but can anyone confirm this? Thanks!

Dumb question: is it safe to assume that I didn't go d_b on this one?

It was mentioned in the hot stove thread, but as much as 50 minutes after it was announced.

Pohlad deserves his own thread... the term "lightning rod" is the first hint

Save me a seat on the stagecoach line to hell, but I laughed out loud at that.

I wonder if Polhad gave money to his HS alma mater, Valley High, here in West Des Moines. Valley could use another $1 million to their athletic coffers. For as much money as they have, they could build another 10,000 stadium.
