Psychology of fan message boards

I'm always pretty surprised when the fan boards proclaim something a "great story on (program I cover)!" when it's essentially a rehash of what's been written ad nauseum about the team.

Question, and I guess I already know the answer, but want reassurance - does "great story" mean, "Story which seems to align with my thoughts about said team."

Thank god this message board is reasonable.
