The only reason we are in this and so many messes is because of the 2000 election.
We know time doesn't work by changing one thing and everything else stays the same, but if Gore hadn't got hosed in 2000, SCOTUS would look vastly different, and maybe a whole bunch of people aren't dead around the world.

I can't argue what would or would have happened if either Kennedy hadn't been killed.
As far as I know, John, and certainly not Bobby, had SCOTUS picks stolen which in turn led to more and more bad SCOTUS rulings.

 

Fewer people would have died in Vietnam, though.

 

Maybe, but unproven. No guarantee Kennedy, who was the personification of American triumphalism in the mid-20th century, would've been able to stand the gaff of being the first President to "lose" a war.
