You're gonna have to lighten up to deal with the DyePacks of the world.

NDub obviously has been drinking the Kool-Aid for the "two-newspaper town, be on the cutting edge" mentality.

  3. Kinda makes me wonder what it is you've been drinking then. :-*When did anyone say anthing about being cutting-edge? Now you are making shit up to support your point.

  4. Last I heard about this one, they were still going through resumes. Any one hear anything else?

  5. If its the News-Sentinel, it was recently purchased by the Ogden chain.
It has a new publisher and editor.
There was a brief story on it a few days ago...

    Sold it to Ogden ...

Sounds like they were playing 7-card stud and the convo went like this:

McClatchy (holding 2-pair): "I'll see your Times-Republican and raise you Fort Wayne."

Ogden (holding an 8-high straight): "Fort Wayne? That's mighty steep, Clatch-Clatch, but I'm a betting man, so lay 'em down."

Sometimes I wonder if our industry decides livelihoods this way.

From what I understand about them, Odgen would probably lay down a royal flush in that scenario and bluff on 7-high nothing.

  8. True, Michael J. Christman (of Ogden) replaces Steven Broas, who was brought in not too long ago by Knight Ridder before the sale. Not too suprising.

Not true, Linda Austin remains the editor of the paper.

I think interviews start in a week or so.

  10. Been a while since anything moved on this one. Have they filled this spot yet?

Hey, Jimmy James lost Bill McNeal in a poker game on NewsRadio.

Bill finds out Mr. James lost him in a poker game]
Bill: You can't bet me in a poker game.
Jimmy: I'm afraid I can, check your contract.
    [Bill pulls out his contract]
Dave: You carry around your contract?
Bill: At times like these, it doesn't sound so ridiculous, now does it?
    [Bill reading contract]
Bill: Loss of job can be a result of termination, merger, or act of God. It doesn't say anything about poker.
Jimmy: Read your "Act of God" clause.
Bill: Mr. James should, and for the sole purpose of this contract only, be referred to as God.

  12. Still in the interview process. They've had a few candidates in, some better than others
