    1. I don't think you can judge the efficiency of the move until you know who has been offered the job. It might be fast but not efficient. Let's hope they got someone excellent; they probably did.

    2. Just curious as to what people think a job like this would pay. I honestly don't know. Maybe $100,000 if the new sports editor currently is an assistant from a big paper or the sports editor of a mid-major?

Figure it has to be 100k regardless. minimum.

I think a lot depends on previous experience, what the person is making now, etc. Six figures is not out of the question.

If they get this guy, I think six figures is a definite.

A job like this easily pushes over $100,000, regardless of experience.

Knowing pay scales of SEs at similar market newspapers, my guess is this job is in the $105K-120K range.

And if the experience level is off the charts someone could definitely push the top range a bit higher.

The guy seattleslot and I talked about turned it down - guy posts here so he can mention his name if he wants. I'm surprised, I thought he was there for sure.

Me too, mod. But one can do a lot worse than the AJ-C.

Seattle, you've sort of taken the mystery out of this. Not that I mind.

Not Ramos, if that's what you are thinking.

Bumping this. Any word on who's next? Too far for me, but enticing.

Got at least one pretty good candidate interviewing this week.
