    At one of my stops, we used "verbal committment" over oral. Our copy chief said, "An oral committment sounds live swallowing should be involved."

    Actually, it's not a commitment at all. It's simply saying she will play for UConn. There is no commitment until she signs her LOI.

    "verbal commitment" or "verbally committed" would be better than "to verbal."

    spnited, I'd much rather say, "Five players have commited to Missouri" than "five players have said they will attend Missouri"
