On punt returns, I go down to the opposite end of the field, and basically line up even with the punt receiver. That gives me a spot of the ball.

Then, I just see where it's spotted and that gives me the return yardage.

You can usually see the snap and kick okay in case you need a punt blocker's name. And if you can't see who did block it, look for celebrations/reactions, that can give you a good hint and you can confirm later.
