If straight news reporters let their political leanings work their way into their stories, they're not doing their job.

Don't care if that sounds naive or simplistic; that is the truth.

Personal ideology has no place outside the editorial pages.

    Lyman,
There's a liberal bias in the Declaration of Independence. There's a liberal bias in the constitution. There's a liberal bias in the Bill of Rights. There was a liberal bias among the founders.

    So what's your point?

    Oh, Shotty, you're sooooo 1968.

Today it's all about working your political leanings into the work, especially if you're a writer on non-political beats like architecture, films or dining.

Obama is almost exactly in the center of the circle for me. I'm also furthest from Herr Russians Don't Take a Dump Without a Plan.

    I found that quite interesting.

I was 58% more progressive than Fred Thompson. ;)

It said I was closest to Richardson, but the numbers would indicate I'm closest to HRC.

I was closest to Obama, furthest from Thompson.

    Which, frankly, made my day.

I was closest to HRC and farthest from Candidate ADD Thompson.

A bit distressing on the former, perfectly understandable on the latter, although it said I had more of a substantial agreement with Obama than Clinton, 81-78. But I'm further to the left economically and a further to the right socially (probably because of the immigration questions) than Obama.
