please keep chef away from dallas thursday - post-operative infection sucks

    well about 14 hours from now i'll be donning a hospital gown and going under the knife for total knee replacement. sucks to have it done at 44 but hopefully it'll mean the end of constant pain i've had forever. i hear the discomfort is a lot less and the hospital stay and rehab are shorter but i made the mistake of watching a video online of the surgery and damn, that looks nasty.

    What she said.

    I figured the less I knew about exactly what they did when I went under the knife for cancer surgery, the better.

    The upshot was that they have dramatically improved the anesthesia from my last surgery in 1991.

    wanted to see the difference between the minimally invasive surgery i'm having and the "old style."

    well, that and i'm a journalist an idiot.

    A total joint replacement is going to be quite invasive. Still the nature of the beast.
