Here's a quote-related question I have (sorry for another amateur-level question). What are the general rules about using sentences from multiple parts of a press conference or interview within one quote block?

In a normal quote block, you have "Quote part 1," source said. "Quote part 2." Is it okay if part one and part two weren't said back to back? Can they be from answers to different questions if they both tie together nicely? If you're using multiple sentences within part 2 does the same apply?

I would not do that. It implies that it was said all at once.

    Maybe like this?

    "Quote part 1," source said.

    Some quick interjection.

    "Quote part 2, source said.

    Or

Paraphrase quote part 1 to lead into the better(?) quote part 2.
