Tiger Woods expected to be in the field when play begins on Thursday despite injuring his back during last Sunday's Bridgestone Invitational.

Rory McIlroy tries to win his second straight major. Other storylines?

Every major winner this year had won a previous major

Me picking a first-time winner for this week.

Seems like the PGA has more first-time and surprise winners than any other major. Bob Tway. Jeff Sluman. Shaun Micheel. Rich Beem. Y.E. Yang.

As much as I'd love to see Tiger in contention (just makes things more interesting); at this point he's just another guy, he does nothing outstanding relative to the field, not putting, not short game, not approaches, certainly not driving the ball. Maybe, his mid-irons, that's it.

    What derailed Tiger most?
Is it his back or his head?

Maybe a combination, but what do you think?

p.s. Yes, his dick derailed him the most,
but I'm wondering about his golf game here.

It's a combination of several things. Can't pin it to any one factor anymore.

    1. He has the yips with his driver. It was once a weapon and is now a complete liability.

    2. He is no longer the world's greatest short iron player. Even with wedges in his hand, he often can't attack pins.

    3. He went from being an elite putter (who was the best player in history at turning 5s into 4s with clutch 10 footers) into an average putter.

    4. He's so scared to hit a draw under pressure it's completely made his game one dimensional.

    5. He's delusional about his body and won't accept that it's breaking down faster than Mark McGwire's did. (Hmmmm...)

    6. He's working with a swing instructor whose philosophy is ill suited to his game. A great artist has become too robotic. He plays "golf swing" instead of golf. He tore down maybe the greatest swing in history not because of injury but out of boredom. He is a genius who cannot leave shit alone.

80 percent chance of rain tonight, 100 percent chance for Friday.

Scoring is going to be low, which I dislike, but that's a discussion for another day.

Tiger needs another 3-4 months rehab on his back.

But what he needs is a shrink. Everything else falters because he's an emotional wreck.

It has to start with him accepting that he's not Superman anymore.

In order for him to be great again it will require him to do something is in not able or willing to do: put his ego aside. Also, the Black Mamba is +2 through five and you can watch it live streaming on the PGA's website.
