    Figured it deserves its own thread since Jake Peavy has struck out nine consecutive Diamondbacks and has 10 strikeouts through four innings.

    It does deserve it's own thread. If he does get 20, certain deskers will thank you.

    Peavy walks Byrnes - no record, but still chasing 20...

    Close call, too. I would've rung him up. :D

    sportsline blogger says Byrnes looked like he struck out on a 2-2 pitch, but first-base ump ruled he checked his swing.

    Is Bruce Froemming on the plate tonight?

    Considering he's thrown 85 pitches through 4 2/3, I'd say 20 is looking safe.

    Yeah, the two walks this inning haven't helped him.

    12 through 5.

    But 89 pitches. Ouch. ::)

    For the sake of argument:

    Do you leave him in to pitch the 8th if he's got 17 or 18, but has thrown 120 pitches?

    If he's got 17, no.

    If he's got 18 ... maybe, depending on how big your lead is.

    If he's got 19, yes.
