Pearlman's point-by-point rebuttal of the Payton criticisms

    He's pretty good on the Whitlock podcast, and I think Whitlock does a good job with the interview (as he does with a lot of his guests on the podcast). He was also on Peter King's podcast a week or two ago but that was more of a straight push-the-book sort of spot.

    The notion that he shouldn't write negative things about a person who's dead is, to me, B.S. The guy says he interviewed 700-plus people for the book and if some of Payton's closest advisers tell him that the dude had a mistress, is he really supposed to scratch out those notes?

    Whether or not Amazon rank defines the intrinsic value of the book, it certainly defines the value of the book vs. some ignoramus on a message board's angry, jealous, ranting posts.

    For a successful, big-name writer, Pearlman looks like a feckless
    Small-timer. You don't see Lupica indulging his insecurity
    over Travel Team and other hamburger.

    Not an admirer of his work but the guy is getting eaten alive. Even some anti-Semitic stuff in his blog's comments section.
