Recently, a number of states have enacted laws which ban local governments from enacting minimum wages higher than that set forth under state law.

I'm not familiar with the idea that this as also been expanded to discrimination statutes, but it doesn't surprise me. The bathroom issue had always been just a scare tactic for the real intent.

When you look at who passed it, that becomes entirely explicable.

Wish they had gone ahead with the show, just to hear Eddie V eviscerate these bastards from the stage.

True. The jackals are running the show. It's just a prime example of the dysfunction in Raleigh that they held a special session to undo Charlotte's anti-discrimination ordinance and in the ridiculously expedited process tacked on a bunch of unrelated horse manure.

I'm intrigued that Pearl Jam's cancellation is what got this thread started. Prior to their announcement today, the following bands or groups had already cancelled events:

    Bruce Springsteen
    Ringo Starr
    Ani DiFranco
    Cirque du Soleil
    Boston

I'm sure someone else will cancel soon.

Also worth noting, the following performers have held or still plan to hold events with proceeds now slated for LGBTQ advocacy groups:

    Cyndi Lauper
    Mumford & Sons
    Joel McHale

Translation: The trans community -- and ONLY the trans community -- gets to go in whatever locker room it wants to to watch people change.

Is that why you go into locker rooms, to watch people change?

    Not being a trans, no.

Then why do you presume that's the reason a trans person is in a locker room, as opposed to using it for its intended purpose?

BTW, Pearl Jam cancelling seems to make this law an even better deal for North Carolinians.

Well, the necessity to carve out a law so that they can seems to be a pretty good indicator. But if you're just fine having a man who says he's a woman dropping his trousers in the same health club locker room as your 13-year-old daughter, I don't see much reason in continuing the conversation.

So you're just assuming a transgender person is a pervert rather than actually trying to understand that person's situation. Can't say that surprises me.
