I once paid with my time. I watched lots of You Tube videos about steroids in baseball. Funny thing was that my time wasn't rewarded with scoops.

I have never heard of people being paid to give out scoops or sports journalists paying to get the scoop.

The closest thing I can think of is the LA Times scandal with the Staple Center magazine issue.

I have heard journalists doing coverage like giving a team a profile or something like that to build a relasionship with a team. But nothing like giving them cash for a scoop like i.e. LA Sparks being sold or something of that nature.

But maybe it happens I don't know.
