The NFL wants all 32 teams to pat down all 16 million fans from head-to-toe before they enter the stadium:

And again I can't figure out why anyone would even want to attend an NFL game.

I was patted down at the Mets game Sunday. Completely ridiculous, as was the random screening of cars entering the Citi Field parking lot.

It looked like there was about 12 people at the game so at least the lines were short.

Security is the new pomposity of American life, and who's more pompous than the NFL. But it's also a handy excuse for inconveniencing thousands of people for their real goal, catching people smuggling in booze. It'd serve the league right if fans organized (impossible I know) and stayed out in parking lots drinking and watching the game via Slingbox.

Excuse? It's the primary reason. They want people to buy the $9 beers.

So does this mean that Soldier Field will no longer be joined with Camp Randall Stadium as the the only US sports venues where the drunks are escorted INTO the stadium?

I've said this about boarding airplanes, I'll say it about this. Who gives a shit?

You get patted down, you lose, what, 12 seconds of valuable time?

    Give me a break.

They should train the cheerleaders to do the patdowns. End of complaints.

Were you tasered? Than I would say security did a pretty good job.

Considering the PSLs, overpriced beers and new stadiums, it seems like NFL owners have been picking fans' pockets for years. This just speeds up the process.

Does anyone see the waste of resources in doing this? The Citi Field example was worse because not every car was screened and the cops did a half-ass job looking at the cars they did screen.
