How long will it take for the rest of the country to mellow out?

My clock is ticking, dammit. :) And it will be interesting to watch this unfold.

This is a funny story: Homeowner finds $175K in pot in his backyard, then blogs about the experience.

Would anyone here have tried to pinch some of the good stuff? Perhaps keep one of the jars and make a few bucks?

Gov. Hickenlooper signs proclamation to make amendment 64 part of the state constitution. It's now legal to possess under 1 ounce of marijuana in Colorado.

Marijuana distribution cannot begin until next October.

Can you smoke weed in places you can smoke cigarettes and drink? I don't know whether smoking sections exist in Colorado still.

So it's legal to own it...but not sell it. Correct?

How in the blue hell are you supposed to get it then? I mean, it's illegal, right...no one would SELL you weed :)

in washington, it's much like beer as far as partaking. you can't just walk down the street and spark up a J.

and no. you cannot buy or sell it, but it's legal to possess up to an ounce. the state still doesn't have its stores up and running yet.

Might sound like a dumb question, but is it still illegal to smoke it?
For example, the cops come to your house on a noise complaint from the neighbors. When you answer the door, they see your buddy rolling a joint. They can't do anything about it.
Cops are called for the same noise complaint, but arrive five minutes later and see your buddy with a lit joint in his hand. Is that illegal, or is it still possession of less than an ounce and acceptable? More importantly, would it be grounds for a probable cause search of the house, on the theory the cops would find much more than an ounce stashed somewhere?
Just wondering if there are loopholes in the law that can still be exploited.
