Doonesbury has been around for forty years. You know what you're getting when you decide to run it. It's not like these are his first controversial strips.

It reminds me of radio stations/networks/advertisers who are stunned by what someone like Imus, Howard Stern or Rush Limbaugh says.

And, tell me, because I really don't know, but do newspapers ever/often pull a syndicated columnist, when they don't like/approve the opinion expressed?

Let's face it, whether it runs on the funny pages, or the opinion page, Doonesbury is, and always has been, political commentary. I would think Trudeau would be treated the same as/similar to a syndicated columnist.

Yeah, well most "big boy" papers don't carry comics.

Way to offend 99.9% of the people here.

"Bad" in what way? The word "rape" is not being used to generate laughs, I'm pretty sure.

Wow. From the description, those are pretty powerful.

That said, if you've run Trudeau this long, you shouldn't be surprised by this.

I'll have to let the Chicago Tribune and Washington Post know.

Maybe Gary Trudeau should turn his pencil toward Afghanistan

Not an argument of any kind, really, just an observation.

Why not just move the strip to the OpEd section for the week? Problem solved. Simple.

What papers besides the NY Times, Wall Street Journal and USAT don't have comics?

The Boston Globe, Washington Post, LA Times, and Chicago Tribune are not "big-boy" papers?
