According to ESPN (through the Hattiesburg American), the 2007 World Series final out ball is no longer.

"Boss" chewed up a ball from the Red Sox's title-clincher? I'm stunned.

Throw the dog a bone, he was hungry.

Larry Lucchino foiled by the old "my dog ate it" excuse? This will not end well.

Now the dog becomes a valuable collectable. He could have the dog sectioned and sell off slices sandwiched in plastic, or else collect the hair after grooming. Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "Fenway Frank."

I mean, if the HoF can display Ty Cobb's false teeth . . .

I'm sure some nutfuck Sox fan will think this is the start of a new curse and will summarily kill the dog to cleanse the Sox of said curse. I'm sure Sons Of Sam Horn are already on top of the lunatic fringe angle.

I also expect a full-page spread on the dog in some New England rag, with full biographical and bloodline information.

To me, this is far worse than what Doug Mientkiewicz did. At least he protected the ball and made sure it didn't get chewed up by a dog.
