He will definitely be on one of the final 10 episodes of Idol singing that song, possibly with a celebrity accompaniment.

    Phenomenal

He's going to have that song recorded and released on iTunes in the next six weeks.

    Book it.

That's not the only one, either.

It was an amusing performance, but it and this guy have already jumped the shark. Less than 24 hours - that's gotta be a new record.

    Off topic but:

Has Idol always had an upper age limit of 28? And if so, why?

No -- it actually used to be younger than that. They bumped it up to 28 a few years in, I believe.

Essentially, I think they were looking for the next Britney Spears, not the next Susan Boyle. The goal was to find a potential superstar like Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson, and if you're re pushing 40 that's not going to happen. Plus, this way it keeps the show focused on a more desirable demographic.

I can't wait for the amped-up version with Crazy Horse.

The funny thing is, as goofy as the song sounds with the guy rapping it, it's damn catchy, and all the parodies actually show you can make a really good song out of it. And that sound you heard was a million music majors jamming sharpened drumsticks into their ears.
