Lots of support for this, but the President will veto it at the Security Council if he has to, which will surely disappoint a lot of his supporters.

 

Has Planning and Zoning signed off on this? Has environmental impact study been done?

If not this application is still a ways away from approval.

 

I'm not disappointed. Veto is the right move even though it will cause protest in the middle east. The two parties need to negotiate this themselves. UN recognition would only exacerbate the situation. Hopefully, this will light a fire under the Israelis to get a little more serious about getting a deal done. Just another tough decision you need to make as president.

 

If U.S. policy is a two-state solution, which it allegedly has been for decades now, then why would it oppose one of the two states being declared a state? Israel has total power over U.S. policy in this issue, and Israeli politics make it impossible for any government there to come to an agreement acceptable to both sides and survive -- a word that has a literal meaning for leaders of both entities in the negotiations.
Nothing will change and nothing will be done, and things in that small area of the world will continue their gradual deterioration towards catastrophe.
