Palace coup in Pittsburgh city gov't averted?

    I know only a few of us care about this, but it's very intriguing if you're into politics.

    Basically, day before All-Star game, Mayor's office anounces he has brain cancer.
    Goes in for treatment, is still in hospital, much jockeying for position goes on behind the scenes to take over, Mayor does some firings today.

    And of course we all know that winning a Super bowl is the be-all, end-all, final word on the quality of life in your city. High taxes, pollution, a high murder rate, drugs and government corruption pale in comparison to achievement on an athletic field.
