Well, folks, I have finally done it. I am out of the journalism business.

Started today with a marketing company here in the shadows of U. of Bumfuck, where my various *other* talents (insert joke here ...) are being employed.

Do I miss it? Yes, though not as much as I thought I would.

    Rock,

It gets better quickly. I just left as well, and it is wierd not covering the NCAAs this year as well as likely not covering the CWS (unless I string). However, I have absolute peace and quiet and I can actually tell my wife when I will be home at night.

Thanks, guys. I have kinda been transitioning this way for the past two years, though this is really the first "non-media" gig since. Cycling, the time away from the newsroom has been less stressful than I thought. I was really able to take a more active role in my daughter's upbringing since then, and I think I have recharged more than a little bit.

    Congrats.

The thing I miss the most is the dress code, and the tvs at work

Who needs a TV when you have a 27-inch IMac plugged into a 4TB internet connex? And I am in jeans, Under Armour sneaks and a polo shirt today. :)

Sometimes I think they should change the name of this place to "FormerSportsJournalists.com."

Best of luck with the new career, rb.

In addition to the soon-to-be-delivered 27-inch iMac, I have THIS bad boy coming ... 17-inch Macbook Pro, so I can, you know, do stuff at home too. :)
