Risky, isn't it? She's banking (or should be banking) on this OWN getting clearance at the basic cable level nationally. If she gets a bunch of digital tier spots, she might as well be Current, MAV TV or Weatherscan

It's moving to cable -- on the Oprah Winfrey Network. If you believe this:

Absolutely. Her ratings have been declining for the last couple of years as her audience grows older. I doubt she will ever reach the sort of audience she has enjoyed in syndication for so many years. The CEO of CBS Distribution, Roger King, died a couple of years ago. He discovered her, developed her, and remained one of her closest friends until his death. I think this development played into her decision. She was very loyal to him.

Will her final gift be an island, with Rachael Ray as the chef, Dr. Phil for counseling, and Dr. Oz to do plastic surgery, as part of the package?

Figure Ellen will get a chunk of her audience, but I've got to think there will be three or four shows starting next year offering occasionally meatier fare. But it will be a tough nut to crack - to succeed a host must be relatable. And I imagine young would help.
I wish I could think of some names, but every name I come up with is either too old, or too "perfect looking."

Oprah is not moving her show to cable. She's just done.
