That's what I was talking about - and it applies to other threads here too.

It's not like they don't pay property taxes because they home school their kids.

Eh. I don't agree with the kid's decision, but if he (or his family) feels that strongly about it, whatever. At least everyone involved seemed to handle it like grownups.

Sorry, I'm more with Smash on this one. The kid is sexist.

Didn't Saved By The Bell cover this in the late 80's, early 90's? It's just silly that this is still a point of contention!

I respect the kids religious beliefs, but I think it's wrong that he views girls as somehow delicate and weak. I guess you can't fault the kids because that's probably how he's been raised.

On an unrelated note, my daughter's soccer team is playing in a boys tournament this weekend. I'm curious how they'll be treated by the boys.

If girls want to compete against boys, they should be allowed to.

They should also be allowed to get their asses kicked like everybody else.

And the boys should be willing and able to do it.

If they're not, there's always the debate team or maybe competitive cooking.

I agree. Respecting women is sexist.

When I played high school soccer we scrimmaged against the girls' team all the time.

    They usually kicked our asses.

Respecting women is not thinking they're too fragile to compete against.

He's free to have his religious beliefs. I'm also free to think they're sexist. Being tolerant of prejudice is implicitly condoning that prejudice.

Yep, I recall a two girls playing on my club team from time to time growing up. One was without a doubt our best player.
