This guy made a lifetime savings on playing a one-dimensional villain in three movies.

He also played Matthew Modine's buddy and wrestling teammate in "Vision Quest."

Hopefully, Cheadle will get his due someday from the Academy. I'm pretty sure Jake Ryan just retired from acting, which is pretty rare.

In terms of one hit wonder old-school: how about the late Kevin McCarthy who parlayed his lead role in Invasion of the Body Snatchers for decades of supporting work, but not another leading role.

    Was also effective in Stargate.

  7. He's a major voice on Spongebob Square Pants (along with the Kurgen) and other voice work.

    For director, Paul Brickman.

His first movie he directed: the outstanding Risky Business, which still totally holds up.

His second movie: Men Don't Leave, a domestic drama.

    His third: still waiting.

He wrote a handful of movies, but he hasn't directed again.

Dr. J in "The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh" although he did have a cameo role in "Philadelphia" and played himself in some documentaries on the NBA.

Actually, Kareem in "Airplane" would win the Oscar, though.

He was also the gym teacher and Bill's mom's boyfriend on Freaks and Geeks.

Anyone who names Don Cheadle as a one-hit wonder doesn't know what a one-hit wonder is. The man is amazing. No, he doesn't open movies, but neither do Ed Harris or William H. Macy. Or even Edward Norton. Talented actors but not super celebrities does not equate one-hit wonder.
