One-Hit Wonders and songs they made that didn't suck

True, but as far as mainstream popularity they were pretty under the radar. Kind of surprising, since they did have so many genre hits. They were a decade too early, hitting it big during the grunge age instead of the 2000s, when rap and R&B have taken over mainstream music.

It takes until the last post on the second page on this board for Katrina and the Waves to be mentioned? How quickly they forget.

They also did the Space Jam theme song.

How about "Take On Me" by A-Ha?

But on the other hand, it didn't take until halfway through the first page for the thread to veer off from its original point to a straight "let's list one-hit wonders" sort of thing.

Yep. But it's a tough thread, because most of these bands are one-hit wonders for a reason. Because they otherwise suck and nobody ever listened to any of their other crap.

Good call on Blind Melon. The S/T debut and Soup are fantastic.

"Cruel To Be Kind" is Nick Lowe's only U.S. hit, but he's put out great material for 30 years plus. Pilot had several good pop songs aside from "Magic." And going back to the 90s, there's much more to the catalogs of Faith No More, Ben Folds Five and the Cardigans than each group's lone American hits.

I'll see "Plan B" and raise you "The Celtic Soul Brothers" and "Jackie Wilson Said."

They had another track, "Geno" off their debut album that went No. 1 in Britain in 1980.

My Favourite Game is my favorite Cardigans song:

Nina Persson is easy to look at.

Another little-known fact: "Come On Eileen" kept Michael Jackson from having back-to-back No. 1s with "Billie Jean" and "Beat It."

Cruel to be Kind is a fantastic song.

Some ones I am coming up with...

Then she does it again 20 years later... Aimee Mann - Save Me -

They might not get any play on R&B stations now, they were too good. Most of the R&B out now is trash, they were a very talented group. They played one of the casinos on The Strip when I was living in Vegas, the only way I even knew was I saw a flyer for the show posted on a telephone pole by UNLV, I went and they were fabulous.
