    Dieter Brock. One season in the league after years in the CFL. Led his team to the NFC Championship (where they ran into the '85 Bears buzzsaw) and retired.

    And whoever mentioned Hipple -- he had the greatest debut I can ever recall. On MNF. Never came close to another game like that. But he did start (for a totally nondescript team) for much of the next 5 years or so, FWIW.

    Heath Shuler didn't hit anything. He hardly qualifies for this list. He sucked the minute he was drafted and never got better.

    Yup. Gus Frerotte was drafted in the seventh round by Washington in the same year IIRC.

    a shoulder injury wrecked what would've been a great career. he was a terrific rookie.

    What the hell ever happened to him? He was an up-and-comer at ESPN and *poof* he's nowhere to be seen.
