Between this and Chelios, coupled withthe Ilitch family penchant for screwing the fans, is there any wonder that the Wings fans are starting to stay away?
I mean, I like Hasek and Chelios too -- but it's time for them to play in old-timers games...

    Holland: Hasek will return

    June 13, 2007

Dominik Hasek has told the Red Wings he wants to return for another season, general manager Ken Holland confirmed today.

“Dom is coming back, I talked to both him and his agent today, and they both confirmed he is coming back,” Holland said. “I really kind of knew on Friday, but I told Dom’s agent I wanted to make sure Dom is comfortable with the decision. He’s got the support of his family. He’s excited about going to Traverse City for camp.”

The sides still have to work out a deal, but while Hasek will get a raise from the $750,000 (plus, eventually, $900,000 in bonuses) he made this past season, his salary isn’t going to severely impact the Wings’ cap number.

“I don’t see it being an issue,” Holland said of negotiations. “With Dom, it’s about winning.”

So apparently they drafted Jimmy Howard for no reason eh?

Does Hasek want to play until he's eligible to draw Social Security? What is that, another five years?

Don't say it, don't say it. Say anything, but don't say goodnight tonight...

Their careers will be ended by osteoporosis, not hockey hits.

When I get older, lose all of my hair,
    Not many years from now,
Will you still be giving me some playing time,
Between the pipes, on the goal line.

If I give up a bad goal or three
    Would you lock the door,
Will you still sign me, please don't malign me,
    When I'm sixty-four.

    You'll be older too,
And if Kenny Holland says the word,
    I could stay with you.

I could be handy, manning the nets,
    When Cujo has gone.

Chelios's chili in the locker room,
    Training table no longer required,

Down at Joe Louis, beating the Avs,
    Who could ask for more.

Will you still sign me, please don't malign me,
    When I'm sixty-four.

Every summer we can make a playoff run,
For the Stanley Cup, if it's not too dear

    We shall scrimp and save
    Your children on your knee
    Atanas, Denise and Chris.

Send me a contract, show me the cash,
    Make it worth my while.

Indicate precisely what you mean to pay
If it's not enough, I might go away
Give me your answer, fill in a form
    In net for evermore
Will you still sign me, please don't malign me,
    When I'm sixty-four.
