I gotta ask, what were the stories on?

Norton is outstanding. I'd love to get tickets to his show with Attel, Lange and Stanhope. A buddy saw Attel at the DC Impov a couple weeks ago and raved about it. Not surprising.

The highlight was Nina explaining the difference between doggie and the wheelbarrow.

What's fucked up is that Lange, who attempted suicide a couple years ago during a heroin binge, might be the most "normal" person on that show.

Back in 1997 a friend of mine, with a penchant for falling into dumb ideas that end up costing him a lot of time and money, ended up hooking up with some guys who were planning to start an adult magazine, which they envisioned as a Canadian version of Playboy, maybe Penthouse.

Anyway, he was installed as the editor and asked me if I would provide some content. In those days, guys like Ron Jeremy and Peter North and a lot of B-list female performers (and the odd, past-her-prime A-lister like Ginger Lynn and Amber Lynn) made the rounds of the Toronto strip clubs. Jeremy and North would go on stage, tell a few jokes, yak a bit with the crowd, before the feature attraction came on.

Interviewing those guys was not like interviewing Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp. Even though I had seen some of their movies it was tough to think about what to talk about. "So, Peter, is it tough to have to keep living up to the nickname the 'Beer Can'?"

At least with those guys I didn't have to worry about the cops busting in halfway through the interview as they did when I was talking to some coked-out B-list chick who was wanted on some immigration beef.

We also did stories on Roberto Duran (very cool, he was my old man's fave fighter, the house was always packed when he fought on TV), Canadian football legend Angelo Mosca and the Bushwhackers, who had just left the WWF and were great, fun guys to talk to. (They were among the "celebrity" judges for the Miss Nude Ontario pageant that we covered.)

The mag only lasted three, maybe four issues (I have seen some of them for sale online), which was fine with me. The guys running it were idiots and I knew they didn't have anywhere near the capital they claimed they did. That was a pretty scummy world to be running in for me, a guy who was a newlywed.

My buddy eventually moved into producing some horrifically bad porno movies, managing a few strippers (and driving them around in a limo he bought that was eventually impounded because it was stolen) before running afoul of some sketchy types who felt he was moving in on their business. He wisely removed himself from that world.

Awesome line tonight with Adam Carolla. They're reviewing Georgina Spelvin movies and in one scene, where she's doing anal on a boat, Dave says, "I guess they're doing it on the poop deck."

Friend of mine dabbles in stand-up and became friends with Stanhope. Got to hang with the friend and Stanhope after a show once. Do not -- I repeat, DO NOT! -- ever try to keep pace in drinking with Doug Stanhope.

I listen to Joe Rogan's podcast from time to time and he had Attell on recently and I think both of them said they thought Stanhope was the best comedian working.

Georgina rocked the butt plug pretty good in The Devil and Miss Jones.
