Now, if only I knew more words to the Canadian anthem.

    O Canada!
    Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

    From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on heels for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on heels for thee.

O Canada, we stand on heels for thee.

I'm watching Chief Dumbass deliver an economic speech about the global downturn.

    Global, eh?

Seriously, though, I am a little concerned about what may happen in my little corner of the world if oil does drop to $20 a barrel, as some pundits are predicting.

Wow, I always thought it was, ``we stand on guard for thee.''

No wonder the border guards searched my car when I drove into the country from Michigan.

We should stop congratulating ourselves - that FT article was written by none other than James Flaherty.....Canada's finance minister. It's hardly an objective viewpoint.

Canadian taxpayers, by the way, just saw their government promise another $50 billion to the fat cats at our nation's banks, who hardly need the help given the billions of dollars in profits they've gained every year since Confederation, if not before.

That brings the total federal assistance for the largest group of crooks in the country (outside the Liberal and Conservative parties, that is) to $75 billion in the past month or so.

It already has been, Flaherty, you disingenous bastard, and there's no way around it given the level of our trade with the United States. They catch a cold, we sneeze. You of all people should know that better than anyone.

If our financial system really is the soundest in the world, the world is in a shitload of trouble.

When we want Canada's opinion on how to run our country, we'll give it to them.
