Remember "Long Gone," the minor league baseball movie that might have been better than "Bull Durham?" William Petersen as Stud Cantrell, Virginia Madsen as Dixie Lee Boxx, Dermot Mulroney as Jamie Weeks, Larry Riley as Joe Louis Brown. Stud was the player/manager of the Tampico Stogies in the deep South. They signed Joe Louis Brown, a Black catcher who can really play, but, you know, he's Black. So they called him Carlos Brown and said he was Hispanic. "Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke."

I logged 672 at-bats for the Pirates in 1922 without a home run. A record.

    Who am I?

Since 30f brought up TWIB, what is the actual name of its credits song?

    Gathering Crowds.

I know that because a video I cut up for YouTube got striked for what I thought was fair use of it.

It's a beautiful, evocative song for people of that vintage. Even a little bit sad, too.

TWIB was never afraid to go cornball but the show was exceptionally written. Tons of wordplay. Whoever wrote that show was having fun doing it.

You hear that one and Jet Set and you immediately think of TWIB

Pretty easy question, but just curious if anyone can do it without looking. Name the eight Black Sox players that were banned from MLB.
