And Bill O'Reilly writes an editorial mocking the NYT, to be published by the Paris Business Review.

Nice to see the New York Times has something in common with Sarah Palin.

Yeah, that's a fair point. But when it's a public person, such as the mayor of Paris, I would think that would be easy to confirm. Call the mayor's office and find out if he submitted a letter.

For Joe Blow living on Evergreen Terrace, though, you're right, it's almost impossible to confirm an email. "Please list your daytime phone number" doesn't work because the fake letter writer will just include their own number.

C'mon, you know how tough it is to find a phone number for the Paris mayor's office?

Plus there's that pesky language barrier.

Don't you just have to add a lot hunh-hunhs and oui-ouis to everything you say?

In about 10 seconds of googling, here's the phone number for Paris's city hall.
Call and ask for the mayor.

Cool. Loofah Boy should frame it, and put it on the shelf, right next to his Peabody.

I think you meant his Peabody.

To the NYT's credit, they did not publish the fake letter written by Rudy Jooliani.
