This isn’t exactly true. You can’t argue that because an event takes place at a college that all of the students are liberals. You cannot even make the case that everyone in NYC is a liberal. It becomes absurd to even suggest that Europe’s conservatives (places that are close to electing neo Nazi parties again *ahem Belgium ahem*) are super liberal. There is no basis for you post other than a perceived idea on how the majority votes.

The country of Scotland has segregated schools (Protestant and Catholic) because they can’t get those two groups to get along and agree on what education means. Northern Ireland has been at this shit for how long?

In those countries if you yell something sectarian, you are immediately tossed from the stadium, your season tickets are revoked and you will be brought up on criminal charges. The criminal charges are going too far, in my mind, but when you have a history of one group oppressing another for decades on end, it seems to be quite important that the discourse be toned down.

I think my point was more that maybe there's a disconnect between the people running those places and the average citizens.

I think you cannot make your intended point. As with any location, those that vote aren’t always those that go to the ball game. Those that do vote aren’t necessarily voting for the same guy that the majority is voting for.

I believe that alcohol is a big fuel in this, but it isn’t the cause. When testosterone levels are up, fans tend to feel the need to extend their demonstration of manliness in ways that are fairly uncivilized. Add in the group mentality and you have your recipe.
