NYT: Duke's Jay Williams, 10 years later

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Double Down, Feb 10, 2013.

  1. For two of the three years he was in college, Jay Williams was the very best player in the country and it wasn't remotely close....whoever is trying to argue Mateen Cleaves as a better player either likes to argue for arguments sake, or doesn't know a thing about basketball

  2. In the last 30 years, strictly as a college bball point guard, Kenny Anderson is the only guy who was on par with the way Williams dominated the game...Hurley wasn't the best player on his own team until his senior season...Kidd was great, all-around, but wasn't nearly the scorer...Payton had one great season, Williams dominated for three...Anderson was the only guy who dominated scoring and passing and affected the game like Williams did....

Williams and Anderson scared the living shit out of opposing coaches...

Gary Payton had at least two great seasons.

  4. You're right.....he dropped 20 plus 8 assists and three steals in his junior year...

25 and 8 and four rebounds and three steals as a senior....beast

Yes. That is the lede here.

If Charissa Thompson is his girlfriend, I would say Williams is doing more than okay these days.

  6. Well she can put him to sleep.
    Can she get him excited?
