I wonder if it is true. As written, that's about as sketchy a story as you can print.

Exactly. See Eric Gregg, 1997 NLCS.

The NBA has acknowledged (at least to the AP) that they are working with the FBI and can't comment, so I imagine it's true.

    Great scoop.

Yeah, because baseball (steroid central) and football (Mike Vick, Pac-Man Jones) have no image problems at all.

Case in point: Eric Gregg's foot-outside-the-plate strike zone in the Braves-Marlins series of 1997.

Wouldn't there a difference between altering the outcome of games as to who wins or loses, and controlling the game so the spread either is or isn't covered?

Remember, in the Arizona State scandal, the Sun Devils won the first two games, just by lesser amounts than the spread.

Splitting hairs. Either it's an honest competition or it's not. And if it's not, than NBA is WWE.

I understand Joe, it's not a good thing for this to have happened. But I think it's somewhat important to point out that games outcomes weren't neccesarily being rigged, as some fans would like to think, just how much the team won by.

Every NFL official, for the criticism of being older and out of shape, have top-of-the-line fulltime jobs.

Not without tossing about three players and a manager from one side.
