In the aftermath of 9/11 remembrance, interesting controversy that makes MLB / Joe Torre look like the villains.

    I don't get this.

Once a year, let 'em do it. Can't believe Torre really made the decision.

Thinking that it was in conflict with the New Era "Official" 9/11 cap:

"Special-edition cap with US Flag on left side to be worn on-field for games played on September 11, 2011."

Teams should just wear them and tell Torre and MLB to fuck themselves if they try to fine them after the fact. Or beat MLB upside the head with the audacity of the fine. I think we're getting to that point. When you can't do something to pay respects to the community, over the concerns of the "precedent" that may set (really, MLB wants to say "how dare you honor your locals!"?) it may just set the precedent that teams will do it and ask for forgiveness later. And then reap a huge PR windfall out of it.

Why didn't MLB commission New Era to develop a one-day-only Mets cap with the FDNY and other first responder logos on the side? Of course, it would be available at your nearby MLB Clubhouse Store as well as via online ordering.

    Maybe $34.99?

Can anyone just throw an FDNY or NYPD logo on a hat and sell it? Because you know those greedy fucks at MLB aren't sharing.

They showed David Wright last night wearing an NYFD hat in the dugout, but he put on his Mets hat on the field.

Why Wright just didn't 'forget' to switch hats is beyond me. MLB would look like absolute shit if they fined him.

And if you're Torre, how do you not look the other way, especially when he was wearing one 10 years ago.

Assume MLB had contract with New Era for all teams to wear MLB 9/11 cap.

The Mets would have been in direct violation of said contract.

Probably not the best time for The Mets to buck MLB.

I though it might actually happen last night.

No. They have their own licensing deals.

    Wow, that's really unfortunate.

Why does Joe Torre hate America?
