NPR unemployment story doesn't add up

I listened to a story about an unemployed woman who can't pay the bills since she lost her job. The story said she's making $200 less a month while on unemployment, which doesn't seem correct. She also can't pay for cable, Internet, phone, car insurance and other bills. It's a sob story without facts.

The subject also didn't lock down her Twitter account. Hope a future boss doesn't check it out.

That is really a poorly done story that is only going to put the woman up for Internet ridicule she doesn't deserve. There are a lot of questions the reporter should have asked, the first one being why didn't she go to the library if she has no Internet access at home? I would add that if she is on unemployment she is probably eligible to receive assistance from the state's job center for just this sort of thing.

It looks like the NPR reporter went to find someone who fit the story that was already written in the reporter's head.

You shouldn't put fuck in any context on a public Twitter profile.

Back to the story. She should apply for the Bleacher Report opening. It would have been the same pay according to what was in the story.

    I agree, poorly written story.

The phone rings while she gives the kids a bath. How about she just picks the kids out of the tub, wrap a towel around them, and run to the phone. Or, if the phone is portable, keep it with you.

Have the boyfriend take the kids out for an hour, and apply for jobs when he gets home. Or, have the boyfriend leave his cell at home with her one day a week.

She's not very sympathetic. It sounds like she can pay her rent and keep food on the table. There's people out there losing their homes and going hungry. Yet, she can't pay her internet bill? Boo freaking hoo.

If she married her boyfriend, they'd have more money with the Earned Income Tax Credit.
